Balka Holiday Apartments consists of 9 holiday apartments. You can look forward to beautiful and welcoming apartments, located just 400 meters from the lovely sandy Balka Beach. All apartments have a private southern facing sun terrace.
Balka Holiday Apartments is a wonderful holiday location – if you are a large family or travelling with friends, you can rent several – or all – apartments, and thus be on holiday together, with the opportunity for privacy, when needed. The apartments have the following interior:

The holiday apartment is located on the first floor. You can look forward to a handsome apartment with the following interior: Hallway on the ground floor with a staircase to the apartment, where you will find a large living room with sofa furniture and an extra sofa (sofa-bed sleeps 2), TV, and a cosy fireplace. In the living room, you will also find a dining table for 12 people. From the living room, you will have views of the surrounding fields, and will be able to enjoy the raised terrace, with garden furniture and barbeque. In connection to the living room, you will find the well-equipped kitchen, with refrigerator, stove, dishwashing machine, and a dining table for 6 people. Furthermore, you will find two bathrooms, with shower/bathtub in one of the bathrooms, laundry room with washing machine/tumble dryer, as well as four bedrooms. The apartment stretches across 140 m2.

Arrival days
As a rule, there are no set days for arrival or departure.
Arrival time
You will be able to check in to your holiday apartment from 4 PM. Read more under “Keys”.
Departure Time
On the day of departure, we ask that you leave the holiday apartment no later than 10 AM, so that we can prepare the apartment for the next guests.
Book more than one apartment
If you wish to book more than one apartment, all you have to do is book one apartment, and make a note in the comment section, of how many apartments you would like to book. We will then take care of your reservation manually. Of course, you are always welcome to call us on (0045) 56 95 85 66.

Cleaning
A holiday is a holiday! We take care of the cleaning prior to your arrival and following your departure, so that you can rest easy knowing that you will arrive at a clean apartment, and you will not have to worry about cleaning before your departure. When you book your holiday with us, cleaning is always included in your fee, and there will be no extra cleaning charges. On your departure, we ask that you have placed all of your rubbish in the bin bag, and that you have washed the dishes.
Duvets / Bed linen
There are duvets and pillows in the apartment. Bed linen and towels are therefore the only thing you must bring yourself. Alternatively, you can rent a linen package, consisting of sheets, pillow and duvet covers as well as a large and a small towel, for 22 EUR per person. Remember to pre-order on 56 95 85 66 if you want to rent bed linen / towels.
Electric cars
Unfortunately, it is not legal to charge electric cars by pulling power cables out of the holiday apartment, as the resort's electricity network is not built for the load from electric cars. If you have an electric car, we instead refer you to charging at the public charging stations nearby.
Grill
There is a barbecue in all holiday apartments at Balka Holiday Apartments, which you can use freely. Just remember to take into account the neighbors when you grill. Please be aware that you must clean the grill yourself after use.
Internet
All apartments have free wireless internet access. The connection speed may vary depending on the number of simultaneous users. If you need to use the internet for work purposes, we recommend that you bring your own mobile connection. Slow or faulty internet connection will not be grounds for financial compensation. You will find the password for the internet in your apartment.
Keys
We will notify you, of how to get the key to your holiday apartment, when sending you confirmation on your booking.
Pets
In some of the apartments at Balka Holiday Apartments, it is possible to bring dogs. An additional cleaning fee of EUR 48 will be charged for bringing your four-legged friend. If you bring 3 dogs, or more, the fee is EUR 96. It is quite easy to bring your dog or cat to Bornholm, as long as you live up to the requirements from the Swedish Custom’s Agency. Shopping
Dagli’ Brugsen in Snogebæk is the nearest available grocery shop (approximately 2.5 kilometres from Balka Holiday Apartments). In Nexø, approximately 4 kilometres from the holiday apartment, you will find a selection of shops, such as Kvickly, Coop 365, Netto, and Lidl.
Payment terms
We ask that you make a deposit of 25 % of the total fee, no more than 10 days after receiving your order confirmation. We ask that you pay the residual sum no later than 45 days prior to your arrival. If you have made your reservation less than 45 days before your arrival, we ask that you pay the fee in full, the day after receiving your order confirmation.
Parking
You will enjoy free parking at Balka Holiday Apartments.
Power and water consumption
Power- and water consumption is included in your rentail price.
Dishtowel, toilet paper, etc.
Upon your arrival, you will find a dishtowel, dishcloth, and a start-up inventory of toilet paper and kitchen towels, in your holiday apartment. Should you require extra, we ask that you bring, or purchase, this yourself.

Balka Holiday Apartments are located just 400 meters from Balka Beach, one of the best beaches on Bornholm. Look forward to a beautiful and very child friendly beach, with shallow waters.
Balka boasts two restaurants, as well as the charming beach café “Weekend-Hytten”. A great tip is to take the short walk along the beach, or the woods, to the small fishing village Snogebæk, where the atmosphere on the harbour is great; cafes, restaurants, smokehouse, and shops. Pay a visit to the infamous café “Sørens Værtshus”, with live music and good vibes. The crowd is a wonderful mix of children, youngsters, and adults, ensuring fun for the whole family. If you are bringing children, they will be impressed with the old lifeboat hanging from the ceiling, in which they can take a swing.
Experience Snogebæk Harbour
Take a walk along the harbour and have a chat with the local fishermen. Not all of their stories are true – but they are entertaining. If you have brought your fishing rods, you might be able to catch your dinner right off the pier – alternatively, you can cheat, and buy delicious fish for the barbeque from the fishmonger’s.
If you need to take your VISA card out for a spin, we recommend a visit to the Pernille Bülow Design Shop, with lots of temptations, such as textiles and art crafts.

Great opportunities for bicycling
The wide reaching web of bicycle lanes on Bornholm can be accessed less than 50 meters from Balka Holiday Apartments, and you are staying just 300 meters from a bicycle rental shop. Hire a bicycle and experience the beautiful landscape. Try bicycling to Dueodde, where you can see most of Southern Bornholm from Dueodde Lighthouse. Perhaps you go the approximately 4 kilometres along the old railway to Nexø, a great trip through the woods, close to the sea.
In Nexø, both the harbour and town are charming, and offers plenty of opportunities for shopping. Do visit Nexø Museum, where you can hear the dramatic story of the days in May 1945, when Russian bombers tore Nexø apart with its bombs. Then, Russian troops occupied all of Bornholm, an occupation that lasted until 1946.

Balka-Snogebæk – The history
The small fishing village Snogebæk is mentioned for the first time in the 1500s. Back then, it only consisted of a few little houses. The residents were primarily farmers, but the sandy ground meant low returns on the crop. Thus, the farmers supplemented with fishing, and they were good at fishing. For this reason, fishing quickly became their main trade.
From two fishing villages to one
The lovely beaches were not of much interest to the locals, as it was unworkable as farmland. During the 1930s, the focus on leisure activities increased, and summerhouses were built in and around Snogebæk, as well as the neighbouring fishing village, Balka. With this, the two fishing villages grew, and practically became one. Locals and tourists alike quickly developed a taste for the beautiful beaches, and the charming atmosphere in Balka-Snogebæk. The interest only grew as the years went on; making the area one of the most sought after beach holiday locations on Bornholm.
