Steam bath
A warm steam bath enhances blood circulation, alleviates pain, and reduces inflammation. As the steam rises, the light in the sauna gradually changes, mimicking a sunrise with golden rays before the light levels increase and finally dim like a sunset. The light therapy combined with the warm steam provides a unique stress-relieving effect, while the steam soothes from within and relieves muscle tension.
Finnish wood sauna
The Finnish wood sauna offers dry and intense heat, reaching between 70 and 80 degrees Celsius. The combination of dry heat followed by a cold plunge provides a refreshing experience that stimulates circulation.

In the Kneipp pools, the water alternates between 0 degrees and tropical warmth. You can also massage your body with ice from the ice fountain. When the body alternates between warm steam and cold water, your immune system is boosted. After a heat session in the saunas, your blood vessels expand, achieving the greatest effect with subsequent cooling in cold water from the plunge bucket, a cold shower, or a dip in the cold water well.

Time of arrival
On the day of your arrival, you will have access to your room from 3.00 PM. In some cases it may be possible with an earlier check-in. Contact reception on phone +45 56 90 44 44 if you want an earlier check-in time. Please note that we cannot guarantee that it is possible with an earlier check-in time.
Time of departure
On the day of departure, we ask you to leave your room at 11:00 AM, so that we can clean the room for the next guests. If you depart on a Sunday in the period 1 October to 1 March, you can stay in your room until 4:00 PM at no additional cost. This way you can almost get a whole extra day of holiday.
Breakfast
One of the best breakfasts on Bornholm is available in the Griffen Spahotel from 06:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Breakfast is included in your room rate.
Bus
If you wish to take to bus to Griffen Spahotel the bus stop is approximately 550 meters from the hotel. The schedule for all bus routes on Bornholm can be found here: bat.dk.
Children (0-3 years)
If you travel with children aged 0-3 to Griffen Spahotel, up to one child can stay in the room with you for free. It is only possible to bring one child per double room unless you also rent a cot. If you want a cot, it costs EUR 48 per person. stay. Pillow and duvet are not included with the cot, but please bring your own. We ask that you make a deposit of 25% of the total fee, no more than 10 days after receiving your order confirmation. We ask that you pay the residual sum no later than 45 days prior to your arrival. If you have made your reservation less than 45 days before your arrival, we ask that you pay the fee in full, the day after receiving your order confirmation.
The Spa area

The capital of Bornholm
Griffen Spahotel is located in Rønne, the capital of Bornholm, where the ferries to, and from, the island dock. The number of ferries arriving is ever growing, partly because Rønne has become one of the largest cruise ports in Northern Europe. Go for a walk along the harbour, and enjoy the buzz when the large cruise ships dock, bringing visitors from all over the world to Bornholm.
Winding streets and charming houses
The town’s status as the capital of Bornholm means that the commercial and cultural life is rich in Rønne. Griffen Spahotel is located by the old part of Rønne. Take a walk along the winding streets, and take in the charming sight of small timber framed houses, along the few hundred meters to the town square. Find a table at one of the cafes – or visit one of the many interesting shops on the square or surrounding streets.
Interesting museums
In Rønne, you will also find many of the island’s museums. At Bornholm’s Museum, you can experience the island’s history through 10,000 years. Because of its location far away from the rest of Denmark, Bornholm has had its own development. Bornholm is centrally placed along the seaways to the Baltic countries, which made Bornholm an important trade hub “back in the day”. The trade was the cause of much life and great riches on Bornholm, but the riches also attracted the less desirable visitors, in the form of pirates. Another interesting museumis Erichsen’s Gaard, where time has been rewound to the 1850s. Here you will experience a noble home, as it used to be. The garden is still full of beautiful flowers, as it was in the 1800s.
