Hasle

Holiday in fantastic locations in Hasle

A holiday apartment or a holiday cottage in Hasle Hytteby is the first step in the recipe for a good holiday in Hasle on Bornholm. Hasle is a market town on Bornholm and an old fishing village, located just 10 km from Bornholm's capital, Rønne. Hasle and Rønne are connected by a large forest area and beautiful cycle paths, which make it a pleasure to transport yourself by bike when you choose a holiday apartment in Hasle. The large forest area means that you can experience a rich wildlife right outside your holiday apartment. In the early mornings, the deer often go for their morning walks in front of your holiday home in Hasle Holiday Park, and in the afternoon, the hares play at Hasle Hytteby.

Holiday by the forest and beach

In the early 1800s, the coast at Hasle was plagued by sanding. At the time, horse-drawn carriages risked getting stuck on the forest paths in large heaps of sand that flew in from the beach. To stop the sand drift, it was decided to plant beech trees - and this is how Hasle Lystskov was created. Some of the beautiful beech trees that you can see at your rented holiday home in Hasle Holiday Park are therefore almost 200 years old.

From your holiday apartment, you walk through the beautiful beech forest and down to the wide sandy beach, which can be the setting for many wonderful holiday experiences. Hasle Beach is one of Bornholm's hidden gems, because it is almost only the local Bornholmers, and the guests from Hasle Feriepark and Hasle Hytteby, who find the beach. Look forward to fine white sand, blue sea and plenty of space. With a holiday home in Hasle, you live near the beach in a beautiful forest area.

Hiking in Hasle

In the forest area, you will be greeted by the beautiful lakes: Smaragdsøen, Safirsøen, Rubinsøen and Pyritsøen (Emerald Lake, Sapphire Lake, Ruby Lake and Pyrite Lake). At the end of the 1800s, large deposits of clay were discovered at Hasle. The clay was used in Bornholm's production of ceramics and not least tiles. Among other things, the tiles at Copenhagen Central Station are made of clay from Hasle. In connection with the excavation for clay, deposits of coal were discovered, which were exploited during the 1st and 2nd World Wars. The excavations for clay and coal stopped shortly after World War II, when the competition from abroad became too great. Over time, the excavation holes were filled with rainwater, so that the beautiful lakes were created. The lakes all have a special glow and therefore they have been named after gemstones. With a hike on the trails in the Pleasure Forest, you will be able to meet both sea, coast, forest and lake. At the same time, there are lots of birds, deer and hares by the lakes that are within a short walking distance of your holiday apartment in Hasle Holiday Park or your cottage in Hasle Hytteby.

Unique experiences in Hasle

On your trip to Hasle Lystskov, you will also visit Kultippen, which almost looks like a lunar landscape. In connection with the excavations for coal, large amounts of excavated soil had to be transported away. The excavation soil contained pyrite - also called "fool's gold" - because it glitters like gold. Pyrite is not dangerous, but it is impossible for plants to grow in pyrite. The large amounts of excavated soil have therefore formed a huge area between the forest and Hasle Strand, which is barren like a lunar landscape. Kultippen is a must experience when you are on holiday in Hasle. From Kultippen you can walk on to the small fishing villages of Sorthat, Levka and Muleby - here you can see the redoubts from the 1700s defences off the west coast of Bornholm.

Do you find a dinosaur at Hasle Strand?

160 million years ago, the world looked completely different - for example, Bornholm was located at the Equator. The climate was tropically warm, and giant predatory crocodiles lived in the water, while dinosaurs ruled the land - including the Sauropod, which with a length of up to 40 meters is the largest animal that has ever been on Earth. The slopes at Hasle Beach are almost living museums, because you have a good chance of finding fossils. Thus, fossilized footprints of a Sauropod have been found. However, it has only been a chick, as it has "only" been about 20 meters long. Petrified teeth from both dinosaurs and crocodiles have also been found, but the chances of a fossilized mussel are greater. Feel the presence of history when you walk down to the beach from your holiday apartment in Hasle Holiday Park and find 160 million old fossils.

Taste a traditional smoked herring

Hasle Fælled is located between your holiday home in Hasle Holiday Park and Hasle Smokehouse. On the common, there is an activity park with a play area and playground for young and old. The smokehouse in Hasle is the last herring smokehouse on Bornholm where herring is still smoked according to the old principles. Hasle Smokehouse therefore also functions as a museum smokehouse, where you can gain insight into how the people of Bornholm have smoked herring for generations. The herring is popularly called "the gold of Bornholm". At Hasle Smokehouse, you can still see the old "clotheslines" that were used to hang the herrings after they came out of the oven. Of course, you can also taste the smoked herring at the smokehouse in Hasle, which is located just a few hundred meters from your holiday home in Hasle http://hasleroegeri.dk/.

At the harbor you have opportunities to get something to eat or drink; There are both restaurants and cafes. In recent years, the port environment has undergone a renewal. Among other things, a harbour canal has been built, which is frequently used by the town's kayak club. In addition, the harbour offers a city beach with a volleyball court, and a harbour bath with a children's pool, diving opportunities and a sauna. Water sports can be enjoyed at the city beach. Maybe a sea kayak trip, or how about trying your hand at a paddleboard? Hasle marina is very popular with yachtsmen, and in the summer there is a buzzing life at the harbour, all within walking distance of your holiday home in Hasle Holiday Park or your holiday cottage in Hasle Hytteby.

Then we will help you with good tips for a wonderful holiday on Bornholm.

Bornholm's west coast

A little north of Hasle, and your holiday apartment in Hasle Holiday Park, you will find the small idyllic fishing villages of Helligpeder and Teglkås, as well as the impressive rock formation Jons Kapel (Jon's Chapel). According to the story, Jon washed ashore at the rock formation after a shipwreck many hundreds of years ago. In gratitude for having survived, Jon then began to proselytize Christianity. From the high rocks - some of which have the shape of a pulpit - Jon preached the Christian message to the pagan population, and in popular parlance the rock formation was therefore named Jon's Chapel. Jon's Chapel is accessible via a staircase of just about 200 steps, the experience is definitely worth the steps, but you may have a little tired legs when you get back to your holiday home in Hasle Holiday Park.

If you want more adventures, you can take the trip to Ringebakkerne, which is about 2 km away in the "hinterland" to Jon's Chapel. Ringebakkerne is a paradise for nature lovers, where you can experience forested, flower-rich rift valleys and granite quarries. The landscape was once used as a pasture for farmers' animals, but today the area is characterized by large quarries with beautiful coastal paths, and a wild and violent nature, where you can encounter spruce, pine, lily of the valley and cuckoo herbs. In the 1900s, there was a tipper track on the sea side of the cliffs, which was used to transport granite to Vang Harbour. The granite has been used for many different construction projects. Among other things, the granite for the Great Belt Bridge has been brought from Ringebakkerne. Ringebakkerne consists of several rift valleys, including the lush Blåskinsdal, a little south of Ringebakkerne, which is especially worth a visit in the spring months. In the spring, the bottom of Blåskinsdalen is almost completely covered with blue anemones, while the trees in the forest are about to sprout. On the northern slope of Blåskinsdalen lies a large boulder, which is also called a giant ball - or in Bornholm: jættebujl. It is a huge stone that, according to legend, was thrown by a Swedish giant. In older times, the people of Bornholm cultivated the giant walking blocks, as they believed that the stones attracted forces that could cause both good and evil. Today, the boulders just characterize the beautiful nature in the rift valley, where families take turns trying to get it to move.
If you are going to experience the lush nature in Ringebakkerne, remember to wear good footwear, as you may encounter many uneven rocks. After a long day, there is fortunately always room to relax in your holiday home in Hasle Holiday Park, or in your holiday cottage at Hasle Hytteby.
