Allinge - Spend your holiday on North Bornholm

If you want to experience Bornholm's original tourist center, and one of the island's most sought-after holiday resorts, then you should choose a holiday in Allinge on Bornholm. Back in the early 1900s, when tourism to Bornholm began, a holiday in Allinge was a priority destination. However, Allinge is much more than just a tourist town. Exciting attractions and experiences

Close to your holiday center in Allinge, you will find Hammerknuden - also known as Hammeren, where you will find Northern Europe's largest castle ruin, Hammershus, which is definitely worth a visit. Hammerknuden and Hammershus offer fantastic opportunities for hiking with panoramic views of the Baltic Sea. Right next to Hammersøen, is Opalsøen, which is a relic from the time when Hammerknuden was used to quarry granite. If you want more speed, the brave can throw themselves into trying the cable car - Denmark's longest cable car at 290 meters at up to 60 km/h. 

Hammershus Castle ruin is Bornholm's most visited attraction - and it's easy to understand why! The castle ruins date from the 1200s, and offer an exciting historical and nature-rich experience for both young and old. Hammershus is one of Bornholm's many free attractions. If the weather is not with you, you can experience Hammershus Visitor Centre, Brohuset, which was inaugurated by Crown Princess Mary. Brohuset is an architectural attraction, but at the same time offers both a café, shop and an exhibition about Hammershus' history - so you are guaranteed an educational experience!

When you live in Allinge, you can benefit from having your dance moves practiced. You are on holiday in Bornholm's jazz capital. If you visit the town during Allinge's annual Jazz Festival, you will have the pleasure of experiencing the very special musical atmosphere that fills the town. You can also look forward to flea markets, town festivals and a buzz of life around the harbor and the small cafes. If you live in a holiday home in Allinge, you can safely leave pots and pans in the kitchen cupboards - the town's many eateries will be responsible for the cooking. Allinge offers delicious dining experiences, where you can, among other things, taste the Bornholm speciality smoked herring at Allinge Røgeri, or you can grab a beer tasting at Ølstauan, and enjoy the view of the harbor. You can also visit the restaurant Det Gamle Posthus in Allinge, which is a favorite among the locals on Bornholm. 

There are many reasons to book a holiday in Allinge. The fine beaches are one of them. The beaches are different from most. The distinctive combination of sandy beach and towering cliffs is characteristic of the beaches of North Bornholm. Visit the small, cozy sandy beach Næs, where you are guaranteed a fantastic view, close to both Æblehaven's holiday homes and the beautiful holiday apartments at Storløkke Feriepark.

Close to Allinge you will find Madsebakke, which is the largest rocky slope in Scandinavia with rock carvings, and which has existed for up to 3000 years. On many of the rocks, you will find petroglyphs from the Bronze Age. You can follow the marked paths and experience the enchanting landscape, and hear the stories of the petroglyphs on North Bornholm. You can also explore for yourself and see if you can find all the beautiful petroglyphs. When you are on holiday in Allinge, you are only 4 kilometers from the cozy little harbor town, Tejn. The town dates back to 1569, when Tejn at that time was just a farming community consisting of farmers and a few fishermen. Tejn Harbour is visited by approximately 400 boats every year when the annual 4-day fishing competition, Trolling Master Bornholm, is held, where the aim is to catch the largest salmon. At the harbor you will also find the microbrewery, Penyllan, which produces natural beer, and offers guided tours of the brewery. Tejn Harbour also offers swimming opportunities where you can jump directly into the Baltic Sea, or you can take a trip to the wilderness bath or sauna. When hunger strikes, you can grab a bite to eat at Skipperkroen, which offers panoramic views of Tejn Harbour.
