Mountainbiking

For decades, Bornholm has laid asphalt for summer cycling holidays for both Danish and foreign families. But you can have a completely different cycling holiday by using the island's mountain bike trails.

Trailcenter Bornholm in Almindingen consists of 17 trails, all of which focus on fun and challenging descents. Here there are no classic round trips, but a wide network of trails. In many places, the tracks are directly on the rocks, and they are not as you know them from the rest of Denmark.

Up and down cliffs

The cliffs of Bornholm are the perfect backdrop for climbing and rappelling. If you are not an experienced climber, you can get courses in climbing - and courses in both tree climbing, wall climbing and rock climbing are offered.

Especially on North Bornholm, it is possible to climb, and rappel, in the cliffs of Bornholm.

If you want to stay on North Bornholm in the autumn, you can, for example, stay on the Strandpromenaden or in Sandvig Søpark.

On South Bornholm, there are not many rocks to climb, but you can rappel.

Rappelling gives a very special rush in the stomach when you sail down the cliffside. As the only place in Denmark, it is possible to rappel from 70 meters, down the side of the Bornholmertårnet, NATO's old surveillance post, which today serves as a Cold War museum.

If you want to stay on South Bornholm, you can advantageously stay in Balka, in Svaneke or Årsdale - for example in Østersøen Holiday ApartmentsSvaneke Savværk, or Årsdale Søpark.

Cykelløbet Bornholm Rundt

The Bornholm Cycling Race

Cycling - Bornholm Rundt

Bornholm Rundt is an exercise bike race with a total distance of 120 kilometers. The race route starts in Rønne, after which the trip goes south along the long flat country roads. After rounding the southern tip of Bornholm, Dueodde, the route goes north via Nexø, and the hilly landscape begins to show. On the stretch up to Gudhjem and Allinge there are hills that for some participants are uncomfortably reminiscent of something that is otherwise only found under more southern climes. When the castle ruin Hammershus has been rounded in the north, the trip goes back towards Rønne, and the hilly landscape shows its good side with many long descents. Once back in Rønne, all participants have become a great cycling experience richer.

Bornholm Rundt takes place on the 3rd Sunday in August.
